Welcome to the Akron Campus Worship Ministries!

The Chapel is an incredible and diverse body of people with nearly 80 years of history as a worshipping community. Our journey through the years has taken us through all kinds of schedules, routines, teams, cultures, styles and ways of doing things—each unique to the times, yet always with the high purpose of seeing the gathered followers of Christ express their united praises to the Creator and Redeemer.

As we head into the 2007-2008 season of church-life and ministry, we again find ourselves in a unique time with incredible opportunities to gather and give our praise to God. Under the joint leadership of our Co-Senior Pastors, we enter a new phase of re-imagining who we are as a church and seeking to discover God’s heart and wisdom for how best to advance His Kingdom for the 21st century.

Accordingly, we will be re-inventing some aspects of how we work together to lead the church in worship. But our changeless purpose remains—facilitating the gathered worship experiences of our people so that they can give acceptable, passionate, genuine worship to Christ.

One of the things unique to a church like The Chapel with our amazing history and our bright future is that we have such a diversity of people and cultures. Because of that diversity, the Akron Campus offers worship experiences in the morning services that are in two broad cultural voices—"traditional” and “current.” Here’s the layout:

9:00am – “Classic Worship”—a more traditional worship service led by choir and full orchestra

10:30 & Noon – “Current Worship” – a more casual service led by worship band and a variety of vocal combinations

6:40pm “Illuminate” worship – an “edgier” band-led experience

Each of these worship experiences exists for the glory of Christ and the advancing of His Kingdom. We come together, God is among us, and we unite our hearts to respond to Him as our Creator and Redeemer. That high purpose transcends culture and style!

It’s an amazing thing that we get to do this together—“[We] are chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that [we] may declare the praises of Him who called [us] out of darkness into His wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9).

That means we are called by Him to the purpose of declaring His praises—wow!

Let’s renew our hearts together to love Him with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength and to worship Him in spirit & in truth.
