The choir and orchestra is a community of artists who share a passion for worship and feel called of God to lead worship through their musical gifts. It is also a great place to find friendship and do life together. Membership is voluntary and requires no audition or formal training. Anyone interested in serving this way is invited to come to a rehearsal and check us out! The choir rehearses at 6:30 on Wednesday evenings, and the orchestra at 7:00 throughout the school year. We lead worship most Sundays throughout the calendar year at 9:00am. In addition, we combine with those from the Akron Campus for seasonal concerts and events. There are usually additional rehearsals for these special events, typically on Sunday afternoons. Choirs and orchestras are of the most ancient worship leading bodies. When King David brought the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, the choirs and instruments led all of worshiping Israel in the procession along with the king and the Levites who carried the Ark. Our role as musicians is primarily that of worshiper. When we worship God authentically from the platform, we encourage the rest of the worshipers in the room (the congregation) to do the same. Similarly, the way we love, care for and defer to one another will percolate into the congregation. The congregation will be, in a sense, a larger facsimile of the corporate worship we model. What a thrilling and significant responsibility! Worship Ministries introduction classes are offered on a regular basis for those wishing to join.
